I hope everyones first few weeks back at school has been going very well. I’m excited to say that this is a collab with the amazing Alanna (follow her blog here). We are both sharing 10-15 back to school tips for you guys so I hope these are helpful!
Do homework on the night set
Oh how I wish I did this in my first 3 years of secondary! I’m such a procrastinator and I would leave everything the night before and stress myself out because everything has piled up. In the middle of year 10, I made a new years resolution (read post here) and it was to stop procrastinating. Now I do my homework on the night set and I just feel like weights have been lifted off my shoulders because I don’t have to worry about that piece of homework. Its great revision to because it solidifies your learning that day.
Stay out of drama
I can’t stress this one tip enough. Especially if you’re in year 11, this is something to think about. Drama brings unnecessary stress and I recommend you just having friends who are supportive and are actual friends. You will definitely see a difference when you stay out of drama. If you don’t get yourself into drama, than you do you girl!
Make your lunch the night before
If you take lunch to school than this will save you a lot of time in the morning. Making a sandwich and putting all your fruits and snacks in one place will make it easy to find to. Never regret making my lunch the night before.
Solidify your learning
At the end of the day or week (I recommend the week), go over everything you’ve learnt. Maybe go over your homework, go on bitesize. Even if you read through your notes, you’ve at least gone over it a second time and it will stick in your head more. This means that revising will be a lot easier because there is less to learn.
Being a teenager is hard because it feels like there is not enough hours in the day to everything. But, priorities your sleep and you will feel so much better in the morning. This is also helpful for exam time because you will feel refreshed and ready to do your exams. Don’t forget to eat well and drink well to in order to stay healthy and be refreshed for school. (You can read my post here about why water is important).
Buy all textbooks/revision guides now
It’s the first few weeks of school at this moment of time I am writing and posting this post. Get all the textbooks and revision guides and it might feel early right now but having resources sooner than later is a lot better. You will be in panic mode when you need it so don’t forget this!
Make notes as you go along
If you are in the UK and go to secondary, all your notes are in school books. When you can take your book home, write your notes in a more simpler way and write it in a way you could test yourself in the future. You could even condense them into flash cards.
Stop procrastinating, stay motivated
You will be so much more productive when being motivated. Motivation usually leads to procrastinating, so if you ever feel like your going into the procrastinating mode, than motivate yourself. Each individual is different so find your motivational technique that will drive you to keep focused in school work and homework/revision.
Give your all
This is the best tip I could give anyone being in school. You will regret not giving enough effort in school and it all reflects on your grades. You don’t have to be the smartest and get the highest grades, but you could give it your all and achieve your own personal targets.
Last, but definitely not least, is my last tip of this post. HAVE FUN! School can be a bore but only if you make it. Make memories, have a laugh, enjoy and appreciate life. Trust me, we are all growing up so quickly that we will never see this day again. So have fun my lovelies!
So I hope you all enjoyed this post. Don’t forget to check out Alanna’s post here to read her tips for school. Have a lovely day everyone!
